The Annual Checkup:
Early Detection = Faster Recovery & Less Suffering
The difference between recreation and recuperation is early detection. That is why we emphasize annual checkups so much. Do not put yourself in a position of greater suffering by discovering you have a condition in its late stages. Follow our screening recommendations and we will be in a much better position to minimize the impact of anything we find.
Put A Checkup On Your Checklist
The very best way to keep yourself healthy is to schedule an annual exam. We will take a complete medical history, conduct a thorough physical examination, screen you for everything you are at high-risk for, and give you a detailed understanding of where you are now and how to get to optimal health in the future. Call us at 404-888-0228 to make an appointment.
Not Just Any Checkup. A Concierge-Level Checkup.
Not only do we give you a comprehensive series of tests and screenings during our annual exams, we spend an extraordinary amount of time explaining the results to you. In fact, some of our patients who pass their checkups with flying colors get annoyed that we simply do not call them and say, “Everything’s fine, see you next year.” It is just not our way. We will schedule an appointment to go over the test results and make sure you understand everything that is going on with your body.
Here are just some of the screenings you will get in one of the most comprehensive annual exams in Atlanta:
Anal Cancer. The HPV virus causes it. It is also responsible for all cervical cancers in women. We are the only private medical practice in Atlanta with an in-house anal/rectal cancer detection system. Grady Hospital is the only other place you will find it. The fact that we have it in-house means you do not have to be sent off to yet another specialist. We can screen, detect and treat early-stage cancer right here in our office.
Colon & Prostate Cancer. Annual screenings should start at age 40, unless you have a history of colon polyps or colorectal, breast, ovarian or uterine cancers in your family. Then you need to get screened earlier.
HIV. The CDC changed its HIV testing guidelines and is now recommending that all adults ages 13-64 get regular screenings. Our rapid HIV tests allow readings within 20 minutes.
HPV. This virus causes anal cancer in men and is the primary cause of cervical cancer in women.
Gonorrhea and Chlamydia. If you are sexually active, you should be tested at least once a year.
Cholesterol. You should have it checked every year. We use a far more sophisticated profiling system than most. We are able to show not only the usual — total, good and bad cholesterol levels — but patterns, shapes and particles. The science of lipids has evolved tremendously in the past few years and we are out in front it to make sure we give you the most accurate screening possible.
Blood Pressure. At least once every year. By the way, a blood pressure of 140/90 or greater is considered high blood pressure.
Immune System. This includes Vitamin D testing, which is a signal marker for the health of your immune system and keeping your bones healthy.
Diabetes. We do a simple blood test that measures blood sugar levels to diagnose increased risk for diabetes (or diabetes itself).
Body Fat. We measure percent of body fat/lean muscle and body mass index.
Heart Disease. The EKG (electrocardiogram) tests for all kinds of heart conditions.
Other Screenings. Our concierge-level checkups involve more screenings than mentioned here. For complete details, call us at 404-888-0228.
